Assessment & Diagnostic Testing

The Klass Center Clinic conducts comprehensive evaluations for children, as well as adults, who are suspected of having learning and/or behavioral disorders.  Evaluations are conducted by advanced doctoral students under direct supervision of a licensed psychologist on the University’s campus.

Typical evaluations range from three hours to six hours depending on the referral problem and needed information.  Evaluations for disability determination, such as those needed to pursue accommodations/modifications for college students, second opinions for Special Education, and Independent Educational Evaluations, tend to take longer due to the range of testing requirements.

For those clients who must travel a distance to attend the KLASS Center, evaluations typically are scheduled to begin in the morning and are broken up over a single day.  For those who live in the Knoxville metro area, sessions may be scheduled over a couple of days.  A follow-up session to review the results and discuss recommendations is necessary regardless of the type of evaluation.  Within two weeks of the follow-up session, if not at the session, a comprehensive written report will be mailed to the parents or client.

The KLASS Center Clinic is a fee-for-service clinic, therefore, fees are charged for all services.  We do not currently accept third party payment (insurance or TennCare), but we may be able to provide an invoice that may be submitted for reimbursement.  However, a sliding scale is available for families and individuals with limited income to reduce the cost; proof of income is required in these cases.  Payment is expected at the time of service.
